Jordan had published in 2001 the request for proposal of a 100 to 150MW solar thermal plant on a Build, Own and Operate (BOO) basis. The internet edition of the Jordan Times reported end of Februray 2002 that "a german firm has submitted a proposal to the government to build a solar hybrid plant in the Quwairah area in southern Jordan". A latest update was given by the Jordan Ministry for Energy at the Berlin Conference on June 19-20.
